Announcing New Faculty & Staff for the 2021-2022 School Year

Since our founding in 1992, Covenant has been blessed by dedicated faculty and staff to fulfill our mission. Throughout this spring, we have prayerfully searched for qualified candidates, and we are pleased to announce the hiring of three new people for the 2021-2022 school year.

Pedro Moura

Pedro Moura will serve as our new science teacher. Mr. Moura holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master’s Degree of Science in Biology from State University of Sao Paulo, and he is completing a Master’s Degree of Divinity in Theological Studies from Mackenzie Presbyterian University. Mr. Moura has been pursuing additional professional development through the Discovery Institute in Seattle and has taught several courses to high school and college students in chemistry and biology. He currently lives in Sao Paulo, Brazil with his wife, Marina, and enjoys running, playing chess, and reading books about science and faith.

Eli West

Eli West will join as our new history teacher. We are pleased to share that Mr. Hannula, our current history teacher, will spend the 2021-2022 school year working alongside Mr. West on our history curriculum and planning the UK and France Historical Tour. Mr. West holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Hillsdale College and a Master of Arts in Classical Teaching from Eastern University. Mr. West has three years of teaching experience at Veritas Classical Schools and Trinity Classical Academy in Omaha, Nebraska. He studied classical Greek at Hillsdale and is currently working on a research project on Gresham Machen’s philosophy of Christian education. His hobbies include hiking, great books discussions groups, hunting, and gardening. Mr. West also acquired his CDL while working in Youth Ministry in Michigan and enjoys driving a school bus!

Amy Wood

Amy Wood has diligently taught our freshmen and sophomore science this spring. Next fall, Mrs. Wood will serve as our new Assistant to the Principal. Mrs. Wood will manage our front desk reception, oversee attendance, RenWeb management, substitute coordinating, record keeping, and will assist Principal Miller in the day-to-day operations at Covenant. Mrs. Wood has ten years of teaching experience at Springfield Classical and Classical Conversations, while also serving as a substitute at Covenant for the past two years. Students have been blessed by her steady leadership filling in for our 9th and 10th grade science this spring semester. She and her husband Ryan have two children: Rylie Wood, a sophomore at Covenant, and Anna, a sixth grader at Springfield Classical. We are grateful to have her organizational skills and diligence in our office next year!
