Last week, three of our students were awarded for their speeches in the Optimist Club Oratorical Contest. We are excited to recognize Joey Giampapa who won first place, Lily Whitt, who earned second, and Nadia Schwab who was awarded third place. Covenant High School enjoyed hosting members from the West Tacoma Chapter of the Optimist Club as well as family and friends of students who attended the competition. The speech topic that the Optimist Club offered this year was, “How Optimism has Guided me through Trying Times.” Freshmen and sophomore students shared personal stories and biblical testimonies on what optimism meant and how optimism has guided them in their lives. The Optimist Club holds annual essay and oratorical competitions where students from across the globe have the opportunity to refine communication skills and exercise leadership. The first and second place winners from the oratorical contest have the opportunity to advance to state competitions. Congratulations, students!
