Last week, three of our students were awarded for their speeches in the Optimist Club Oratorical Contest. We are excited to recognize Jonathan Taylor who won first place, Jane Aune, who earned second, and Samson Beserra who was awarded third place. Covenant High School enjoyed hosting members from the West Tacoma Chapter of the Optimist Club as well as family and friends of students who attended the competition. The speech topic that the Optimist Club offered this year was, “Discovering the Optimist Within.” Freshmen and sophomore students shared personal stories and biblical testaments on what optimism meant and where they had found it in their lives. The Optimist Club holds annual essay and oratorical competitions where students from across the globe have the opportunity to refine communication skills and exercise leadership. The first and second place winners from the oratorical contest have the opportunity to advance to regional competitions. Congratulations students!
